GRADING TRYOUT SESSIONS

Invite to Attend Summer 2021 Grading Tryouts Wed 16th & Thurs 17th December

As our Club continues to grow in numbers and achieve success in various age groups and divisions, we have listened to feedback from our community and considered guidelines for organised sports.  To ensure all our players have the same opportunity to enjoy their basketball and to develop and play to the best of their abilities, we invite all players in U10, U12, U14 Boys Teams to attend Club Grading Sessions ahead of the Summer season.

Players must be registered to be able to participate in the session.  Register Here:  https://www.playhq.com/basketball-victoria/register/62a960

A grading process allows the Club to best support all team selections and ensure players of similar ability are placed together to develop and play competitively at the most suitable divisions in the McKinnon Basketball Association. The specific make-up of a session may vary for each age grade and number of players attending.

Sessions will take place at the Tucker Rd Primary School gym at the following times:

Wednesday 16th December

4-5pm U10’s

5-6pm U12’s (Attend 1 session only)

Thursday 17th December

4-5pm U14’s

5-6pm U12’s (Attend 1 session only)

Outline for each session:

Welcome (5 minutes)

Warm up (5 minutes)

Skills (10 minutes)

Games (5 x 7minute games with teams changing)

There will be strictly no parent entry to the gym in order to comply with COVID density requirements.  Please drop your child at the door and either wait in your vehicle or return to pick them up 5 minutes before the session ends.

While we refer to this as grading sessions, the aim of the process is to make the best TEAMS and have them play at a level that best supports their enjoyment and development.

Any player who is unavailable for grading or who is not confident participating in the grading process will not be excluded from a team placement. Such players will be placed into teams based on their performance in previous seasons, expectations of their ongoing development and availability of places in existing teams. Any existing full teams wanting to remain as a friendship group can request to do so, and the viability of this will be assessed during grading. They may be assessed as a team if appropriate.

While the South East Warriors Committee is committed to this grading approach by comparable skill, we recognise that for some players there may be other special need considerations. Such requests can be raised directly with the Club Manager during the grading period.  Any feedback on the Club's grading policy and/or process is to be directed to the Club Manager in the first instance at southeastwarriorsenquires@outlook.com
