Hi everyone,

Fair to say I’m feeling pretty flat this morning with the announcement that we are going back into lock down.

I feel mostly for the kids who will now have had nearly two terms of separation from friends and the ability to participate in many of the things that bring them so much joy.

Basketball has now officially conceded on the 2020 seasons, with the most likely outcome being a restart for the Summer 20/21 season. This is the point in time when we have movement across age groups. This will present us some challenges given we haven’t played together for so long.

We will be in touch very shortly about the refund process and we appreciate the fact that everyone got behind paying the registration fees in these uncertain times.

Behind the scenes there is a lot going on at our club and more broadly in basketball. We have a new committee which worked incredibly hard to get us to a point of almost restarting. This hard work will continue as we aim to grow the club and our basketball community.

• We have refreshed our logo and are in the process of building a new website.

• We’ve received state government grants to focus on building our girls program (Well done Michael) as well as support for the impacts of COVID

• We are working on a standard basketball curriculum, which will make it easier for people to get involved in coaching and will give players and parents comfort that we are teaching the game in a consistent way and focusing on the improvement of our participants.

• We’re working on how we do team selections and make sure that we have teams playing at an appropriate level, but we will continue to support friendship groups playing together as this a is a proven element of kids improvement and enjoyment of the sport

• We’ll shortly have some new club merchandise or swag available.

We’ll be communicating more frequently during this lockdown and beyond about how you can support you child’s basketball development and how you can support members of our Warriors community during these testing times.

How you can help:

• We’re after digital images for use on the site and social media to help us with communications (close ups of the kids playing in a game or perhaps as group in a game (on the bench etc). Hopefully lots of smiles.

• If you have a small business we want to help you. Please send us some details of your business and some images that might help us promote ways that we can support you.

• Be patient as work with the MBA and other clubs on what the next steps are to finalise admin for what would have been Winter 2020, work through refunds/credits and what is needed to be ready to be up and running for Summer 2020/21.

• Buy some merchandise (swag) when it’s available 😊
